Project: Integration @ The York (Los Angeles)

This is serious…

Join SHVLFCE and Arkady as well as resident DJ’s Styol, J Bliddie and Esteban for Project: Integration’s first night of the year!

This is the Premier of I Contact. Something this universe has been heavily anticipating. Given you exist during the time of I Contact, and are in the right place (LA), I highly recommend you pick up on the notion, and motion towards The York the evening of March 13th.

Along with witnessing a milestone in eye & ear stimulation, enjoy good food and bomb beer. It’s a Gastropub! So you know I’ll be there stuffing my face.

New Mix From Arkady: Vapor / Later

This set was pieced together at the request of the Pulse Showroom in Los Angeles. It’s a kind of disjoint wandering narrative; an out-of-focus array of romantic impressions, warm and vague. Make sure to grab the original in high quality.

“Pulse Showroom is a multi-line showroom specializing in the women’s contemporary market. Pulse is based in Los Angeles and has two locations conveniently established on S. Los Angeles Street. The first showroom, Pulse Showroom, was established in 2004 and is home to 9 lines. The other, Pulse Annex, was established in 2009 and is home to 5 lines.

Pulse offers playful and progressive selections for every store and every aesthetic. Since we try to stay on the cutting edge, we asked a young talented artist to produce a mix that would best represent Pulse.

We are proud to promote the artistic stylings of Arkady and I Contact.”

Maximum respect and all thanks to the artists. Artwork by I Contact.

Enter :: Mammox

Mammox formed in April 2009 when Mark C. Aylward (rapper), Nate Belasco (keyboards), James Staub (bass), and Zachary Zukowski (drums) fused together their limitless musical talents and various influences. The four members met at Northeastern University while studying Music Technology. Together they introduce a psychedelic collaged sound rooted in hip-hop, glitch, electronic, and world music. In attempt to describe their music, the band stated “We are not merely fusing styles–hybrid groups are nothing new. We are breathing new life into the music we sample by mixing it with our own instrumental improvisation and Mark’s distinctive wordplay.” Not only is their music unconventional, their entire band process has also strayed from the ordinary. They created an album first, learned their songs on traditional instruments afterward, and, lastly, picked a band name–a very backwards process for many, if not all, artists. Unlike many laptop music artists, Mammox is raising the bar in regards to live performances. Although their entire album is thoroughly composed of samples, each member of the band learned to play segments of the songs on traditional instruments to enhance their live performances. For extra effects and sounds that traditional instruments cannot produce, they use laptops, samplers and turntables. Mammox currently has representation from Psychedelevator (www.psychedelevator.com), an internet based label that represents a handful of other talented bands including Skyvan and Holy Rattlesnakes. With the help of studio engineer Jim Anderson, they hope to master and release their album in Spring 2010. Soon after, they plan on booking a seven to ten day tour in the New England area.

They’re letting me leak this whole EP for a bit so be grateful. We’re spoiling you!

“Sneeze Tease” – Mammox
“B.E.A.T.” – Mammox
“Wren-Babbler” – Mammox
